I’m going to the Game Devlopers Conference!

GDC 2008

I’ve received the IGDA Foundation’s Eric Dybsand Memorial Scholarship for AI Development, to go to the Game Developers Conference 2008 in San Francisco!

I’m honoured! 😀

I’ve been withholding this up until it was announced on the IGDA’s website, but now that the organisation has sorted the passes and the winners, I can post. I’m still very much busy with exams, but have booked my hotel and flight to get over there and now need to sort what I’ll be doing.

If anyone does read this and is interested in meeting up there, I’m on MyGDC too, or email me 🙂

Expect photos, reports and whatnot since I’ll be taking over my Macbook, and will be primarily looking at AI sessions – some very interesting ones are going to be put on, which I’ll be sure to attend.

Video Game Music Show pilot aired

I’ve finished the Video Game Music Show pilot tonight, airing for 2 hours playing video game music – I actually had some listeners (such as housemates and LSUCS members) and got a few calls too, and even a few shout outs.

I’ve decided to risk putting the shows online to download, since I honestly think game music deserves more then being sidelined and is worth listening to by itself. The only feature I did this time was “Guess the game” where I played a track from a game, which was actually pretty hard to guess (no one got it I talked to!). I did make tons of mistakes, given it was my first time live on air though nothing disastrous happened.

Next time I plan to do at least a list of upcoming and released games and perhaps a review (I was going to do Call of Duty 4 but should have written some thoughts on it before the show first!).

Download the MP3 (107MB, 128Kbps) or Ogg (60.5MB, Q4) copies, and more information about what was played is on my Video Game Music Show page.

Video Game Music LCR radio show

I’ve finally got my training complete with Loughborough Campus Radio (LCR) after deciding I wanted to do a video game music show.

I’ll have a slot (during semester time; so only once before Christmas) Monday 8-10PM, and will try and figure out the best game music, and remixes to play. 🙂

Hopefully I’ll get a second presenter (I haven’t looked for anyone) or a reviewer to fill some of the time with game reviews and news. It should be interesting and I’ll hopefully be able to do it all next semester! Any ideas on what I should play or do on the show feel free to tell me 🙂

Never Mind The Polygons #8 video online

383

I’ve finally been able to get Never Mind The Polygons #8 online, since problems with the Internet Archive with recent maintenance stopped me last week. You can enjoy it (for it is very enjoyable) from the archive in 3 flavours if you’re interested in viewing it:
