NaSTA Conference 2008…and the future

2805
All dressed up

I went to the 2008 NaSTA awards – likely my last visit – at the weekend. It was okay – silly, and was close by at least. I’m a cynical git when it comes to thinking what will happen in the future of the organisation (what that it is) however, but I won’t detail that until the end of my little report 🙂 . See also; the gallery, in which I took 200 or so pictures, although I should have discarded some of the duplicates. Continue reading NaSTA Conference 2008…and the future

Video Game Music Show – 10/03/2008 online

Completely on time, even if I didn’t get to start the show on time 🙂 this week, a random collection of tracks ranging from the indie game Static, through to Metriod Prime, Katamari Damacy 2 and many others. It’s only 1:30 or so this time, but next week if I can get into LCR, I’ll put on a proper 2 hour show.

Download the show in MP3 (89MB, 128Kbps) or Ogg (121MB, Q6) formats, and catch the playlist and notes on the shows page.

As an additional note, I found my notes for the previous show! Yay! 😀

Video Game Music Show – 03/03/2008 online

A bit late uploading, but never the less, a good and random show to listen back to, and the first since I was in San Francisco.

A rather random show this time, with me going off the cuff and finding lots of strange music to play. In a total of 1:45 I play a variety of songs including Grim Fandango, Fallout, Wario Ware Touched, Carmageddon, Fable and many others. One theme might be “Theme Songs”, which I played many of (including Tomb Raider Anniversary, – possibly a rarely heard one).

Download the show in MP3 (128MB, 128Kbps) or Ogg (97MB, Q6) formats, and catch the playlist and notes on the shows page.

GDC08 Notes – AI Roundtable day 3 (AI for Beginners)

Me looking more moody then I felt, honest 🙂 (Dave Mark’s picture)

The final AI roundtable on Friday was AI for Beginners – we were in one room again, but it wasn’t as crowded. Some varied questions asked (not all of them for beginners, but a lot was explained for those that were). Dave Mark put up notes and audio from this roundtable too, if you want a better set of notes 😉 Continue reading GDC08 Notes – AI Roundtable day 3 (AI for Beginners)

The left of me

So day 2 of the AI roundtables was a lot easier, although for some reason I didn’t use my laptop to take notes, sigh. This day, we did split into two rooms – I covered the “Action / FPS genre” side, while Dave Mark covered the “RTS / RPG” side. It’s tough to divide this day up (having read about past years), but I think if it was made into “strategic high level” and “actor” divisions, it might make more sense. TBS/RTS is just too different to FPS / RPG AI for the most part, but I digress (and it’d mean too many people in the actor side 😉 ). Continue reading GDC08 Notes – AI Roundtable day 2

GDC08 Notes – AI Roundtable day 1

This Wednesday roundtable was meant to be in two rooms, sadly, we got only one. However, a lot of discussion was had, and I got 3 pages of notes from it. These notes are somewhat hard to follow, but are pretty much in linear order of what came up. For some more notes, see Dave Mark’s grand offerings, with audio too!
