Video Game Music Show – 17/03/2008 online

Here’s a shorter VGMS I did today – I got a hour late there, but still put it on. This time I got my theme sorted (during the show) which is Grand Theft Auto music ๐Ÿ™‚

Theme songs, menu tracks, original music and radio music all come alive for 50 minutes. I didn’t play all newer songs, a lot were from the original GTA and GTA2, which have some great tracks.

Download the show in MP3 (47MB, 128Kbps) or Ogg (71MB, Q6) formats, and catch the playlist and notes on the shows page.

Video Game Music Show – 10/03/2008 online

Completely on time, even if I didn’t get to start the show on time ๐Ÿ™‚ this week, a random collection of tracks ranging from the indie game Static, through to Metriod Prime, Katamari Damacy 2 and many others. It’s only 1:30 or so this time, but next week if I can get into LCR, I’ll put on a proper 2 hour show.

Download the show in MP3 (89MB, 128Kbps) or Ogg (121MB, Q6) formats, and catch the playlist and notes on the shows page.

As an additional note, I found my notes for the previous show! Yay! ๐Ÿ˜€

Video Game Music Show – 03/03/2008 online

A bit late uploading, but never the less, a good and random show to listen back to, and the first since I was in San Francisco.

A rather random show this time, with me going off the cuff and finding lots of strange music to play. In a total of 1:45 I play a variety of songs including Grim Fandango, Fallout, Wario Ware Touched, Carmageddon, Fable and many others. One theme might be “Theme Songs”, which I played many of (including Tomb Raider Anniversary, – possibly a rarely heard one).

Guess the Sound Quiz!

Guess The Sound Quiz!

This is my entry in the February 2008 Roundtable, a bit different from a typical discussion or post. I’m doing this in the spirit of not having any audio experience, apart from knowing a few choice sound effects ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m going for more recent games I knowยน, so if you want some vintage, I suggest this quiz, in all its flash glory. Now on with the entertainment…

Thaaaaat’s right! Welcome to Guess the Sound!

This is your opportunity for winning fame, fortuneยฒ and accolades from the crowd, for guessing what game each game sound come from!

Make your way to round 1 to start the quiz!

(If the sounds don’t play, reloading the page or you can download the sound files in a zip archive to listen to).

ยน If you feel this is a bit PC biased, unfair, or otherwise too easy/hard, I can’t do much better since I only own PC games ๐Ÿ™‚ and if you want to make your own, I’d love to listen to them too ๐Ÿ˜‰

ยฒ Fame and fortune requires winning lottery ticket. Lottery ticket not provided.

If you enjoyed the quiz, why not read about audio in games from these educated chaps?

Preserving the memories

A new initiative has started within the IGDA Preservation SIG – we’re looking to put up memorials about for industry developers. This is to help preserve history of the people working in the videogame industry, as well as players and important people related to the industry.

It’s currently just starting, but if you know any people who should be listed, you can contact me or the Preservation SIG to have them added – eulogies and information are both very much welcome. It’s important to keep the information somewhere easy to find. While we don’t have the resources to document everyone in the industry like Mobygames attempts to, we can keep a good list of those who have passed on, and save the memories that people have of them for posterity.
