I’ve commented before that most current MMOs are just PQ with a prettier skin and fake interaction. EVE is kind enough to let the progress bars keep rolling when you are logged off, at least… Puzzle Pirates lets me grind even with a lapsed subscription, but it’s also the very rare example of actual skill-based grinding.
Yep, completely agree not all MMO’s have a basis in Progress Quest-like mechanics. If I did play any, it’d be something like Eve or Puzzle Pirates - the others currently don’t interest me because they contain so much grind, even if there is some nice social interaction and pleasant graphics.
