Seemingly not the most recognisable of sounds. It seems everything from steampunk to sci-fi use combustion engines, despite warp cores. However, what games match up with these sounds?

Half Life’s only usable vehicle is the rails car used to get around some levels.

Grand Theft Auto has tons of vehicles. This is specifically Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, although the noises are similar in all of them.
